MOUNTAIN BIKING: Peavine Creek

← GA BARBASHELA CREEK WOODWAY DR NEAR STONE MOUNTAIN GA Single Tracks →

Description

Once on the trail take first left onto a mile long flat single track that follows Peavine Creek (recently widened by city sewer planners). There are three possible lefts to take but for the longest most enjoyable ride go to the end of the trail (ends at Old Clifton Rd) turn around and go back taking your first right. This begins the true single track ride in the small mountains between Fox channel Five and Emory Campus/Peavine Creek). Go over a foot bridge up steep and take every right that seems to be going up hill. You eventually will go down into the first gully over a tough stream crossing follow the trail up a tough steep taking a left once on the creek washout and look for the trail that continues up the mountain. Next is a pretty good down hill and a very dangerous steep section with cut logs and stumps at the very end. Take a right and your back at the beginning. Now do the loop backwards taking a right up the very dangerous steep (with the cut tree stumps) for a great single track ride. This trail is seldom used by mountain bikers because it's more setup for walking. Do not try it in wet conditions because the trail is very steep in places and you'll be pushing your bike up the whole way. This is a short trail but very technical and not a beginner trail. The river crossings and up hills are technical. You'll be huffing ands puffing for sure: 1.4 mile loop several variations. If you live in the Highlands. This trail and Waterworks are your best options for in town riding.<br />
